Porsche is tightening the bolts with this RS, its extreme version. On the technical sheet side, nothing really new: it swaps the 3.8 of 475 hp against a 4.0 of 500 hp, the torque increases by 20 Nm (460 Nm in all), and the weight is reduced by 10 kg, or 1.420 kg on the seesaw. Except that the devil is in the details and that the German brand has no equal in snatching precious tenths of a second on the circuit, the hunting ground of this Porsche. 80% of owners of previous GT3 RSs regularly make incursions on closed tracks. Walter Röhrl, the double German world rally champion, has, at the age of 68, been heavily involved in the development of the latest RS: “Our fundamental job was to improve lateral grip. So we widened the tracks [Editor's note: + 3,6 cm at the front], severely increased the downforce and installed the biggest tires possible. The result is the best production car dedicated to the circuit that I have ever driven!”. With a sharp eye, we notice that the RS recovers the wider body of the Turbo, which has made it possible to mount the largest envelopes ever seen on a 911: at the front, the Pilot Cup 2 developed by Michelin display 20 inches in diameter and 26,5 cm in width, while at the rear the 21 inches are no less than 32,5 cm!
